There are a number of styles of Shiatsu. I have trained in Zen and Shin tai. Based on traditional Chinese medicine it uses pressure points and gentle stretches in order to help you and your body readjust.
Most treatments are deeply relaxing but some more invigorating depending on your needs.
Traditionally we work on a futon and I usually use a body cushion to help support the client in the most natural way.
We can also work in a seated position or on a massage couch dependant on what is best for you.
The number of treatments required for significant improvement can vary and we can discuss expectations, however there should be improved feelings of wellbeing after the first treatment.
Often described as Hopi ear candling we use lit ear candles for a relaxing treatment that aims to restore the equilibrium in your inner ear and support your wellbeing. Frequently used to alleviate sinus problems.
Commonly known as Hopi ear candling this calming treatment that includes a lymph drainage facial can help with a number of issues:
Migraines
Sinus problems
Glue ear
Excess wax
Can ease tinnitus (though there is no cure)
I combine this with a facial using high quality organic oils.
For chronic cases it can take up to three treatments. If there is no improvement your practitioner will discuss with you how best to proceed.
Though this can be a stand alone treatment I usually use a portion of the time to work on scars and include the more holistic Shiatsu. This is a method developed by Sharon Wheeler and I trained with Emma Holly. It helps with the look and feel of scars. Scars affect people physically and emotionally and often cause numbness and or discomfort. With a course of treatments and some advice on a little homework the symptoms can be much improved.
